DJ Ribhe, whose real name is Tafadzwa Mandaza, is currently facing serious allegations of rape involving an underage schoolgirl.
He has recently changed his legal representation as the police investigation continues.
Court Proceedings
DJ Ribhe appeared before Harare Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa and was remanded in custody until November 20 for a routine remand hearing. The magistrate advised him to seek bail from the High Court. His case was previously postponed to December 3 to allow for the finalization of investigations.
Change of Legal Representation
Initially represented by lawyers Dumisani Mtombeni and Stanley Matandadzi, DJ Ribhe’s family has now secured a new lawyer for him. Mtombeni, who is associated with Chillspot Records, has previously represented other artists from the label during their legal issues.
Allegations Details
The allegations stem from an incident on October 16, when the victim did not return home from school. The following day, she was reportedly with DJ Ribhe and others at Mashwede Village, where he allegedly made her consume an unknown substance. It is claimed that on October 18, she was taken to his residence and later discovered to have been sexually assaulted while unconscious.
Context of Legal Troubles at Chillspot Records
DJ Ribhe is not the first artist from Chillspot Records to face legal challenges. DJ Levels previously dealt with rape allegations that were dropped by the accuser, while DJ Fantan faced domestic violence charges from his estranged wife, which were also dropped.
This ongoing situation highlights the legal issues surrounding several artists associated with Chillspot Records.
