Former Minister of State Security Owen Mudha Ncube, who was fired on Monday was thrown under the bus, it has emerged.
In a meeting that ruled the end of Ncube’s job, the newly “imposed” Zanu-PF Midlands Provincial Chairman Larry Mavhima apparently led evidence that made President Emmerson Mnangagwa to end Ncube’s journey of State Security Minister.
The meeting allegedly came after Mavhima, the man claimed to have been imposed on the position of chairmanship, Mavhima expressed his reservations on his newly attained position but preferred to relinquish office due to Ncube’s shenanigans.
Reasons stated for Mavhima’s resignation from the Chairman position, he had just resumed, are Ncube’s bullish and violent tendencies.
Mavhima said he simply could not work with Mudha.
In the emergency meeting held at Mnangagwa’s Farm in Kwekwe, Mavhima threw Ncube under the bus, citing all of Ncube’s misconducts who used his position of being the CIO boss to harrass party members and members of the public.
Mavhima allegedly delivered the message to the President:
“The message he carried to the President was simple and clear: nobody was able to work with Mudha anymore,” said a Zanu-PF source to NewZimbabwe.
Mavhima continued narrating to the President that Ncube was violently threatening and fighting for his allies to attain various positions.
The recent stunt Ncube pulled was at the meeting in which he (Ncube) brought two mini buses packed with youths carrying machetes threatening his opponents.
It was during the Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting that Ncube allegedly had his allies particularly one Prosper Machando who violently threatened Public Service Minister Paul Mavhima and Gokwe Nembudziya legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena with harm.
This resulted in a walkout by a third of Zanu-PF members who had attended the PCC meeting.
Mavhima and Wadyajena retaliated by attempting to walk out of the meeting as well.
Mudha’s youths, armed with machetes were ready to attack if the need arose, the source expressed.
Mavhima allegedly did not leave any stone unturned as he told on Ncube’s behaviour, expressing that Ncube has been abusing his office since his appointment, constantly terrorising the public using armed gangs.
In the meeting with Mnangagwa, Mavhima gave Mnangagwa an ultimatum, either Ncube was fired or he (Mavhima) would relinquish his recently acquired leadership role of the Midlands Province.
That seemed to have convinced the President as the following day Ncube was releaved of his duties.
In an interview with NewZimbabwe, an unnamed senior Zanu-PF official said:
“You should visit the province and see how excited people are with this development.”
As the Midlands saga unveiled, seemingly Ncube is not only violent but has also been accused of working with the Minister of Local Government and Public Works July Moyo, who allegedly, happens to be leading a faction in the Midlands Province “that wants to “dominate affairs”.
Analysts suggest Min. July Moyo is on the firing squad as well.
With 2023 elections on the horizon, the nation watches eagerly of what is happening on the political stage.
While analysts concur that Shake Shake (Zanu-PF Building in Harare) house is in turmoil, another brutal battle is brewing with the opposition parties already tussling over the use of a name.
