In a dramatic turn of events, a 20-year-old man from Chief Nyajena’s area in Masvingo has been convicted of attempted rape and sentenced to five years in prison.
The incident occurred on November 3, 2024, around midday, when the offender confronted a 37-year-old woman who was walking to Nyamande Business Centre.
According to court proceedings, the man jumped in front of the woman’s path while naked and demanded to have sexual relations with her. He then grabbed her by the hands and forced her to the ground. However, the woman refused to succumb to the attack. In a desperate act of self-defense, she pulled the man’s manhood, managing to escape from his grasp while he writhed in pain.
Following the harrowing encounter, the woman promptly reported the incident to the police, which led to the swift arrest of the offender.
On November 8, 2024, the Chiredzi Regional Magistrates Court sentenced the man for his criminal actions, highlighting the importance of standing up against such violent acts.
