The tragic road accident that occurred early Thursday morning at the Kuwadzana 7 turn-off along the Harare-Bulawayo Highway has resulted in a rising death toll, now confirmed at seven individuals.
Initially, National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi had reported that five people had died at the scene.
In an update shared on the police’s X (formerly Twitter) account, it was confirmed that the death toll has increased to seven.
The accident involved a Toyota Hiace commuter omnibus that collided with a fuel tanker. Reports indicate that the driver of the commuter omnibus turned right into the highway without checking for oncoming traffic.
As of now, the identities of the victims have not been released, as they are yet to be confirmed by their next of kin. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety and the need for vigilance among drivers.
