Fuel Tanker Rams Into Commuter Omnibus Killing Five

A tragic accident occurred early Thursday morning in Harare, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to six others.

The collision involved a Toyota Hiace minibus and a fuel tanker along the Harare-Bulawayo Road, near Kuwadzana 7.

Details of the Collision

According to police reports, the commuter omnibus was attempting to make a right turn onto Bulawayo Road when it crossed into the path of the oncoming fuel tanker at a traffic-controlled intersection. The impact was severe, leading to the fatalities and injuries.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital, where the injured are also receiving medical treatment. As of now, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed.

Additional Incident

In a separate incident on Wednesday afternoon along the Harare-Masvingo Road, another accident resulted in two deaths and five injuries. A Toyota Land Cruiser veered off the road and overturned. Four of the injured were taken to Mvuma Hospital, while one was transferred to Harare for further medical care.

Safety Concerns

Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi has urged drivers to adhere to road rules and avoid speeding, highlighting a concerning rise in accident rates. Further details regarding both incidents are expected as investigations continue.
