Opposition party leader, President Nelson Chamisa has donated food hampers to 30 vulnerable people in Gwanda.
The donation benefited the elderly people, disabled as well as the less-privileged.
Chamisa said he has seen that people are facing challenges because of the economic situation countrywide and he is determined to reach out to all his supporters to assist where possible.
The donations are said to help those who are less privileged so that they may have a cheery holiday.
Many people showed their gratitude following Chamisa’s kind gesture.
“I thank my President, Cde Nelson Chamisa, for this gift. It really means a lot. I am so excited because I wasn’t expecting it. We have seen hampers but this one is not from this world”, exclaimed Mrs Jayne Dewa from Gwanda South.
Another villager, Msindiswa Mpofu said, “I must say I am overwhelmed with this gift from our President. I don’t know how we can possibly thank him. May God bless him with many more years and grant him his greatest wish. We really wish we could have him as the leader of this country.”
People who attended the distribution ceremony expressed that they are going to vote for Chamisa as the President in the up coming elections, in 2023.
National executive member for MDC Alliance, Hon. Jaison Majalo highlighted that there are many who are poverty-stricken throughout the country and Gwanda is the luckiest to receive such donations.
“Thirty people received these donations in form of rice, sugar, cooking oil, flour and beans. These few people represent everyone who might be also facing the same challenge” said Majalo.
In his speech read by Senator Ncube, President Chamisa wished all MDC- Alliance supporters a prosperous New Year.
