Yesterday marked the official opening of the 2024 MINE ENTRA, themed “UnEarthing Success: The Mining Value Chains, Innovation and Industrialisation Nexus.”
The event, held at the ZITF grounds, provided a fantastic platform for various companies to showcase their goods and services in hopes of winning prestigious awards.
The competition for the Best Zimbabwean Exhibit was divided into four categories: Manufacturing, Services, Suppliers, and Foreign.
Companies were ranked based on their presentations, with the top three in each category receiving recognition.
In the Value Addition (Manufacturing) category, Paramount Exports and SteelMakers (PVT) Ltd secured the 3rd and 2nd places, respectively. The 1st place winner, awarded the Hungwe Wire and Rope Trophy along with the MineEntra Gold Medal, was Shepco Industrial Supplies.
In the Services category, National Propshafts Centre and Bateman Water Zimbabwe took the 3rd and 2nd positions, while FuelTech Zimbabwe claimed the top spot, receiving the Safety Africa Trophy and the MineEntra Gold Medal.
For the Suppliers category, Nissan Clover Leaf Motors and Hwange Colliery Company Ltd. Holdings (HCCL) were awarded 3rd and 2nd places, with Value Engineering winning 1st place, earning the ZITF Company Trophy and the MineEntra Gold Medal.
In the Foreign category, Dreben Enterprises and Haver Boecker were recognized with 3rd and 2nd positions, while Fire Dust Control Africa took home the 1st place award, receiving the SteelMakers Trophy and the MineEntra Gold Medal.
The competition’s fairness was ensured through the involvement of an independent panel of judges who evaluated the exhibitors based on criteria such as visual impression, originality, availability of information, and quality of personnel at the stands. A significant emphasis was placed on the relevance of each exhibit to the 2024 Mine Entra theme, which was a key factor in the scoring process.
