Dexter Nduna, the chairperson for resource mobilization and revenue generation within the ZANU PF Central Committee, has issued a public apology to President Emmerson Mnangagwa following his attendance at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) graduation ceremony last month. Nduna, who was present during the ceremony, did not actually graduate due to failing three courses: Energy and Mining Law, Labour Law, and Language Acquisition and Intercultural Communication Literacy (Chinese Language).
Details of the Apology
In his statement, released on October 10, Nduna expressed regret for his actions, stating that he had believed his request for a remarking of his modules would be successful, leading him to attend the ceremony in graduation attire. He acknowledged that he was misinformed about his graduation status and learned through social media after the event that he was not on the final list of graduates for the law class of 2024.
Nduna’s apology included the following key points:
- He recognized that his premature celebration could have tarnished the reputation of the university.
- He has made arrangements to register and retake the exams for the outstanding modules to complete his law studies.
- He reflected on his past experiences as a military officer and legislator, acknowledging that he should have exercised better judgment.
Conclusion
Nduna concluded his apology by expressing his hope for forgiveness from President Mnangagwa, emphasizing his respect for the institution and the importance of maintaining its credibility. His public acknowledgment of the situation highlights the significance of accountability and integrity in both personal and professional conduct.
