A woman from Harare, Melocia Gwata, has come forward with alarming claims about her husband, stating that he has been forcing her to engage in sexual activities eight times a day, as if taking prescription drugs.

In a recent hearing at the Harare Civil Court, Gwata was granted a protection order against her husband, George Kusotera.

Gwata alleges that when she declines his sexual demands, he resorts to physical abuse. She recounted to magistrate Judith Taruvinga,

“He wants to have sex every day and wakes me up sometimes in the middle of the night even after we have been intimate countless times on the same day.” She expressed her distress, saying,

“I am unable to quench my husband’s appetite for sex,” and noted that these extraordinary demands are taking a toll on her mental health, leaving her with little enjoyment of sleep.

The magistrate ruled in favor of Gwata, acknowledging the severity of her situation. Gwata further revealed,

“He told me he wants to have sex with me eight times per night and if I refuse he assaults me. At first, I gave into his demands but now I am getting tired doing it every day and sometimes I develop some pain.”

She indicated that the frequency of these demands has been escalating.

Additionally, Gwata shared that her husband has threatened to divorce her if she continues to refuse him.

“He has been assaulting me in front of our children, shouting obscenities and telling them I don’t deserve to be called their mother,” she stated.

In response to the allegations, Kusotera did not deny the claims but attributed his behavior to his deep love for Gwata.

“I apologise to my wife, I didn’t know that I was making her uncomfortable. It was wrong and I am sorry,” he said.

He expressed his desire to maintain a loving relationship, promising,

“I love her so much and want to continue making love to her in a good state. I promise not to physically abuse her and also to consider her feelings.”
