Bulawayo – The late Colonel (Retired) Tshinga Dube, declared a National Hero of Zimbabwe, will be laid to rest at the National Heroes Acre in Harare on Wednesday.
A funeral service is scheduled for Monday at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo, allowing the community to pay their respects.

Legacy of Colonel Dube
Colonel Dube, who passed away at the age of 83 after battling kidney failure, is remembered as a straightforward individual who was unafraid to speak the truth. He played a significant role in Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, joining at a young age in the 1960s. His contributions included organizing efforts for the return of ZPRA Nitram properties and advocating for the welfare of his comrades.
His son, Vusumuzi Dube, expressed the family’s wishes for a dignified farewell, highlighting Colonel Dube’s commitment to his comrades and the nation. Zanu-PF members have described him as a guide and advisor, emphasizing the importance of honoring his legacy through unity and support for the ZPRA properties.
Background
Colonel Dube was born on July 3, 1941, in Matobo District, Matabeleland South Province. He received his education in Zimbabwe and later trained in the Soviet Union, where he specialized in communications. After independence, he served in various capacities, including as the Commander of the ZNA Signal Corps and later as Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Defence Industries.
His life and service have left a lasting impact on the nation, and he will be remembered as a dedicated leader and national hero.
