Talent Madungwe, a self-proclaimed prophet known as the ‘Heavenly Commander’, has pleaded guilty to negligent driving and driving without a license.
He appeared before Epworth Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti, who postponed the case until Monday for sentencing.
According to prosecutor Rutendo Nyamutswa, Madungwe was involved in an accident on August 6, where he side-swiped Rutendo Kwinjo’s Nissan NP300 single cab while driving without a license. Kwinjo’s car sustained minor damage.
Interestingly, Madungwe was previously reported to have obtained a driver’s license before receiving a Toyota Aqua from Wicknell Chivayo’s donations. However, Madungwe now claims he doesn’t have a driver’s license.
Madungwe was initially arraigned in Epworth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and was released on remand until yesterday. The State requested a postponement to amend the charges before proceeding.
The case has sparked attention due to Madungwe’s controversial reputation and the discrepancy surrounding his driver’s license.
The controversial prophet has claimed that he regularly visit heaven and have conversation with God.
The pre-sentence hearing and sentencing are set to continue on Monday.
