Sandra Mtukudzi, daughter of legendary musician Oliver Mtukudzi, has made shocking allegations against her stepmother, Daisy Mtukudzi, revealing a traumatic childhood marked by mistreatment and favoritism.
“I would be told that I had to share the pot with the dog… While others were eating rice, I would be told that I would get my sadza from the same pot as Kwanai,” Sandra shared in an emotional interview with DJ Ollah.
Sandra and her sister Selmor opened up about their experiences growing up under Daisy’s strict rules, claiming they were subjected to unequal treatment compared to their half-siblings, Sam and Samantha.
Key Allegations:
- Forced to eat dog food: Sandra was made to share meals with the family pet.
- Excluded from family events: Sandra was left out of family gatherings and parties.
- Inferior living arrangements: Sandra shared a room with the maid, while her half-siblings had their own rooms.
- Emotional distress: Sandra felt unappreciated and unloved compared to her half-siblings.
Sandra believes her father’s frequent tours and Daisy’s influence contributed to his unawareness of the situation. “Sometimes he appeared to be overwhelmed by Daisy.”
Selmor corroborated Sandra’s account, highlighting the emotional scars left by their upbringing.
The Mtukudzi family’s dynamics have come under scrutiny following Oliver Mtukudzi’s passing and the recent festival held in his honor.
These allegations have sparked conversations about family dynamics, step-parenting, and the long-term effects of childhood trauma.
