Woman Accused of Facilitating Sister’s Rape

A 49-year-old Binga woman has been remanded in custody for allegedly facilitating her husband’s repeated rape of her younger sister. The accused moved her sister to Gwanda in 2018, promising to enroll her in school, but instead left her with her husband, who raped her repeatedly until June 2024, when the victim fled and reported the abuse to Bulawayo police. The accused faces charges of rape facilitation under Section 83 of the Criminal Law [Codification and Reform] Act, Chapter 9:23, and will remain in custody until her next court appearance on October 4.

Forex Dealers Arrested for Illegal Trade

Nine individuals have been remanded in custody for illegal foreign currency dealing after their arrest at Beitbridge’s Dulibadzimu rank. They were arrested on September 18 for trading in U.S. dollars and face charges under Section 5(1)(a)(ii) of the Exchange Control Act, Chapter 22:05. The accused will appear in court again on October 3.

Man Sentenced to 23 Years for Fatal Stabbing

Tinashe Dycool Mawere, 22, has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for murdering a 25-year-old man during a fight at a Shurugwi beerhall in May 2023. Mawere stabbed the victim multiple times following a heated altercation, and the victim died upon arrival at the hospital. Mawere was convicted of murder and handed a 23-year prison term.
