The streets of Bulawayo were painted in blood this past weekend as three vicious and unprovoked attacks left innocent citizens fighting for their lives.
Bulawayo Police have reported three incidents of attempted murder over the weekend, which left victims with severe injuries and requiring hospitalization.
Victims were left with severe injuries, including deep stab wounds, cuts to the head, and bruises all over their bodies.
The first incident occurred at around 9 pm on Saturday, 16th September, when a 46 year old man from Burnside, Bulawayo, was lured to a local Sports bar by two suspects, Lameck Mguni (32) of Douglasdale and his unknown accomplice.
Upon his arrival at the bar, Mguni and his accomplice invited the victim to join them in collecting girls of the night from Starling Drive.
As the three men walked away from the bar, Mguni’s accomplice grabbed an iron bar from a nearby bush and began to viciously assault the victim, landing blows all over his body.
As the victim fell to the ground, Mguni drew an okapi knife from his pocket and repeatedly stabbed the man in the head.
After brutally assaulting and stabbing the victim, Mguni and his accomplice abandoned the scene of the crime, leaving their victim lying on the ground, bleeding heavily.
The victim was left to fend for himself until he received assistance and was taken to the hospital.
Despite being severely injured, the victim managed to seek help and report the incident to the local police station.
The assailants, however still remain at large as police continue in their concerted struggle to locate them.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries, which included a swollen head, deep cuts on the head, a cut on the nose, and bruises on his hands and legs.
In the second incident, which took place on Sunday, 17th September, at 1 am, 36 year old Emakhandeni resident Godfrey Manyoka accused a 29 year old man of being romantically involved with his girlfriend.
Manyoka, who was already at the complainant’s residence, confronted the younger man about his suspicions.
The argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with Manyoka drawing an okapi knife from his pants pocket and stabbing the complainant multiple times.
Manyoka’s attack left the complainant with serious injuries on his back, right chest, and right leg.
The victim’s condition was critical, and he was immediately rushed to Mpilo Hospital for emergency treatment.
A police report was filed, and Manyoka was promptly apprehended and charged with attempted murder.
The knife allegedly used in the attack was also recovered as evidence.
The complainant remains in a serious condition in the hospital, and the outcome of his recovery is uncertain.
The third incident occurred early Sunday morning, at around 4 am, in Kenbec, Umguza, where two female friends, aged 22, were returning home after attending a party in the same neighborhood.
As they were walking, they were accosted by four unidentified male adults, who began to hurl stones at them.
In the chaos, one of the women managed to escape from the assailants and ran away.
Two of the attackers gave chase, leaving the other two behind to continue assaulting the second woman.
The remaining two assailants continued to viciously attack the second woman, leaving her bleeding on the ground with serious injuries to her head, face, and body.
The woman remained unconscious for about an hour, until her friend returned with relatives to check on her.
They found the woman in a critical state, with a deep cut to her forehead, a swollen face, and bleeding eyes. Blood stains covered her body.
The relatives promptly reported the incident to the police, but the attackers remain at large and are still yet to be identified.
“Carrying dangerous weapons is prohibited. People should desist from violence and seek help from third parties in cases of differences.
“Police is seeking for information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons,” said Inspector Abednico Ncube, the
