Diaz Matangira, the 30-year-old son of Zanu PF MP Remigious Toendepi Matangira, was arrested on Monday after a road rage incident in Harare. Matangira was speeding in his father’s grey Ford Ranger Raptor when he encountered a slow-moving Toyota Vitz driven by Arnold Musengi, an off-duty soldier from the Special Air Services.
Matangira allegedly blew his horn repeatedly and made aggressive maneuvers before overtaking the Vitz. That’s when things took a disturbing turn – he’s accused of pointing a gun, registered to his father, at Musengi.
Musengi didn’t back down, pursuing Matangira with the help of other motorists until they forced him to stop. Avondale Police took Matangira into custody, and he’ll face charges for pointing a firearm in court soon.
This incident raises concerns about road rage and the misuse of firearms. It’s a reminder that even high-profile connections can’t shield individuals from accountability.
