A man has been arrested for illegally killing six animal species in Mwenezi.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the incident through their Twitter.
The man, Zeki
Mapimele (37) was charged for poaching.
“On 04/12/21, Police in Mwenezi arrested Zeki Mapimele (37) for poaching. The suspect together with his three accomplices who are still at large, was intercepted at Mateke hills while hunting with several dogs.”
Mapimele was found in possession of two Impala carcases, one spring Hare carcass, two Grass Bok carcasses, one Sabaku carcass, one Stek Bok carcass and two Hare carcasses.
In another story, police in Dete have arrested a man stocktheft.
Melusi Ndlovu (39) of Mabale Village was was arrested the 2nd of December.
It is stated that Ndlovu stole 14 goats from the grazing lands in the area and drove them to Gwayi Business Centre where he penned them at a Compound.
Through a tip off the Police followed Ndlovu’s trail and recovered one goat tied to a tree and six others penned in a compound. Two goat carcases were found at a local kitchen (take away).
The incidences of stocktheft continue unabated despite the punitive jail time sentences meted by the courts for such crimes.
