A devastating road accident occurred on Sunday evening in Mokopane, Limpopo province, South Africa, when a Zimbabwe-bound Tamuka Luxury bus overturned, resulting in the loss of five lives and leaving several passengers injured.

The bus, which departed from Johannesburg, crashed on the N1 North towards the Nyl Plaza outside Mokopane around 5:30 PM. Four men and one woman were among the fatalities, while many passengers sustained injuries of varying degrees and were rushed to hospitals in Mokopane for treatment.

This tragic incident comes just five days after a similar accident occurred near Polokwane, South Africa, where 10 people lost their lives and several were injured when a Mzansi Express bus traveling from Zimbabwe to Johannesburg was involved in a road accident.

The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety confirmed the accident, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.

“The safety of our passengers is our top priority, and we are deeply saddened by this tragic incident,” said a spokesperson for Tamuka Luxury bus.

“We will cooperate fully with the authorities to determine the cause of the accident and ensure that measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.”
