Peter Dube, the alleged murder suspect that happened in Gweru some three years ago said he is innocent until proven guilty.

“I am innocent until proven guilty,” said Peter Dube.

The high-profile murder case is set to be heard at the High Court in Gweru on September 9th. Dube, who had been on the run for nearly three years, is facing two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

The allegations against Dube are severe.

“He allegedly shot dead his wife’s suspected lover, Shelton Chiduku, and her best friend, Gamuchirai Mudungwe, in a suspected love triangle,” said a source close to the case.

“He then turned the gun on his wife, Nyasha, and her sister, Nyaradzo, but they survived the shooting.”

Dube denies the allegations, claiming he is a victim of circumstance.

“I was not involved in the shooting,” he said. “I don’t know why I am being accused of this.”

However, the evidence against Dube is mounting. After the incident, he allegedly fled to South Africa, then Eswatini, where he changed his identity. He then traveled to Ireland, where he was arrested in Dublin last year for violating immigration laws. “He was using a fake identity and claimed to be a Mozambican citizen named Armando Quenete Muchanga,” said a source.

Dube was deported to Mozambique, where authorities established his true identity as a Zimbabwean citizen. He was then deported back to Zimbabwe, where he was arrested upon arrival at the Robert Mugabe International Airport in April this year. “We are confident that justice will be served,” said a spokesperson for the prosecution.
