A shocking discovery was made at the Harare offices of Better Brands, a gold mining and marketing company owned by Mabvuku MP Scott Sakupwanya, prompting a police investigation.
“We received a report of suspected human remains found at the premises, and we are taking it very seriously,” said a police spokesperson.
“We have collected bone samples and sent them to a forensic lab for DNA analysis to determine if they are indeed human remains.”
The discovery was made during renovations at the property on Churchill Road in Avondale, where a construction worker unearthed what appeared to be human bones while using an excavator to uproot a tree.
“We are still in the early stages of the investigation, and we cannot comment further until the DNA results are available,” said the spokesperson.
“However, we assure the public that we will leave no stone unturned in getting to the bottom of this matter.”
Sakupwanya, who owns Better Brands, had not responded to questions about the discovery at the time of publication.
The investigation has raised eyebrows, given Sakupwanya’s prominent position as an MP and his company’s significant role in the gold mining industry.
“We are committed to uncovering the truth behind this discovery, and we will work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served,” said the police spokesperson.
