Zimbabwean Dancehall Superstar Winky D recently complained to a promoter for scheduling him to perform at 4am in Duesseldorf, Germany.
“Mr. Promoter, come. Let me talk. Mr. Promoter, you cannot make me sing at 4 o’clock in the morning. No man. No man,” Winky D said, visibly unimpressed.
“I’ve got a big catalogue. But everything stands. Next time, do better. So, right now, we say we have to start the party now.”
The crowd erupted in cheers of approval as Winky D reprimanded the promoter. He then launched into his hit song “First Sight,” sending the crowd into joyful screams.
The Dancehall Maestro went on to deliver a high-energy performance, belting out tracks like “Naye,” “Area 51,” “Dai,” and “Happy Again.”
The incident occurred on August 4, 2024, during a show that was initially billed for August 3. Winky D was joined on stage by fellow performers ExQ, English Makombe, Mambo Mushona, DJ Chitoxicated, DJ Tony, and DJ Stiggs.
Winky D’s confrontation with the promoter was met with support from the crowd, who appreciated his commitment to delivering a quality performance.
