A Harare man fell victim to a brutal robbery yesterday, losing US$7,000 to three attackers who used pepper spray to incapacitate him as he relieved himself.

“I was on my way to the airport when I asked the taxi driver to stop so I could use the bathroom,” the victim recounted.

“Little did I know, it was a setup. The next thing I knew, I was being pepper sprayed and attacked.”

The incident occurred near the intersection of Simon Muzenda Street and Kenneth Kaunda Avenue, as the man was en route to Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

“The robbers were ruthless,” the victim said.

“They took advantage of me when I was most vulnerable. I’m still trying to come to terms with what happened.”

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident and assured that investigations are underway.

“We take incidents like these very seriously,” Nyathi said.

“We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist us in bringing the perpetrators to justice.”

The taxi driver and robbers remain at large, leaving the victim shaken and determined to see justice served.
