Marry Mubaiwa is seriously ill.

This follows her collapse and eventual fall on Monday after attending one of her regular court cases.

A doctor who attended to her has proclaimed her condition critical.

Marry Mubaiwa was attending court on the continuation trial on allegations of assaulting her child minder when she collapsed and fell at the court’s entrance.

A statement released by Dr. John S. Nyahunzvi, a Specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon read,

“I had the pleasure of assessing Marry Mubaiwa on behalf of my senior colleague Mr. Mthethwa (Orthopaedic and Limb Reconstruction Surgeon). She is 5 weeks post revision surgery for a right humerus shaft re-fracture.

“Her current condition is critical (life threatening) and has necessitated hospitalization and stabilisation with a plan for emergent right high above elbow amputation as soon as she is deemed medically stable.”

In simpler terms, Vice president Constantino Chiwenga’s former wife Mubaiwa’s right arm will be amputated when she has stabilised to undergo surgery.

She has been diagnosed with severe sepsis syndrome which resulted from deep infections after revision surgery intended to fix the re-fracture of right humerus shaft against a background of chronic sepsis in her forearm.

“Careful in-patient clinical management of her current state is required, and a multidisciplinary team is in attendance,” noted Dr. Nyahunzvi.

Undertakings to attain specialised therapy outside the country have been obstructed by the courts, whom analysts say were influenced by the power from the office of the Vice President.

The retired model was diagnosed with severe lymphoedema which has caused large open wounds on both forearms.

Her lawyer Beatrice Mtethwa asked magistrate Lovemore Mapiye to suspend the trial, and if the prosecution asserted on continuing Mthethwa said she could bring Marry in an ambulance and the case would proceed while she was on a stretcher in the car park outside.

The prosecution agreed to the postponement.

“The doctors have come to a conclusion that they cannot save her arm and that when she is medically fit they will have to amputate the right arm.” explained Mthethwa.

Mubaiwa’s lymphoedema has caused bulging on her lower limbs including legs and both hands. She also has puss-filled wounds which she formerly told the court caused her great discomfort and sleepless nights.

Her doctors said she was using sedatives and pain stops to ease her pain.

Mubaiwa has already been tried on fraud allegations pertaining to a grievance by Chiwenga that she tried to upgrade their customary union to a civil marriage while he, Chiwenga, was sick in 2019.

She will also face charges for money laundering and fraud.
