Bulawayo giants Highlanders Football Club have a new boss

Ronald Moyo was appointed the new Chief Executive Officer for the club taking over from Nhlanhla Dube whose contract expired last year.

According to the Club, Moyo was chosen from nine candidates who had shown interest for the post.

Before his appointment Ronald Moyo was serving as the communications and media officer within the club for the past 4 years. Moyo was the acting CEO since Dube stepped down, he thus emerged to be the best candidate for the post.

The Club’s secretary general Morgan Dube confirmed the development.

“The club would like to take this opportunity to inform all its members, fans, sponsors and partners, and all other stakeholders that Ronald Moyo is the new Highlanders Football club substantive chief executive officer.” said Dube

He also added that Moyo will assume office from the first of April this year.

His duties will be to implement decisions of the executive committee, making sure that the club’s offices are well equipped among other duties.

Meanwhile the former Golden Eagles FC coach Joel Luphahla has joined Highlanders FC.

In less than 24 hours after his departure from the Golden Eagles FC Luphahla joined Highlanders FC technical team as the assistant coach to Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu.

Highlanders Secretary General Morgan Dube said the appointment of Luphahla, a former Bosso star, was necessitated by the need to strengthen the technical department and give support to the head coach Mpofu who have of late has been under heavy criticism from the fans and some sections of the media for the poor performance of the team.

“Following their request to beef up the bench and have a full compliment, Joel Luphahla has been brought in as the second assistant coach. We humbly urge the Highlanders family to support the technical team in all ways possible to help the club attain the intended goal. Together we can,” Dube said in a statement.

Luphahla made his name at Highlanders as a player and is touted by fans and the media as one of the best upcoming coaches after winning the Central Region Soccer League championship with TelOne in 2018 taking them into the Premier Soccer League.
