Vaccination campaigns blitz kick starts

The City of Bulawayo has issued a statement by the Ministry of Health and Childcare on the approval of vaccination the 12 to 15 years old age group.

The Health Ministry is carrying out a nationwide vaccination blitz targeting people from 12 years and above.

The Bulawayo City Health Department has therefore urges the public to go to their nearest health facility or look out for mobile clinics in their area.

“The City of Bulawayo in conjunction with Ministry of Health and Child Care, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and partners will be conducting the vaccination programme targeting the 12 to 15 years age group.

During the campaign, the vaccination of the 16 years and above age group will continue.

Based on the available scientific data in line with the Medicines Central Authorities of Zimbabwe guidance, the specialist paediatrics, have further recommended the vaccination of the 12 to 15 years old age group. The statement continued.

Vaccination will be conducted at all Municipal clinics, Central hospitals, Mater Dei hospital, all primary schools, Secondary schools and outreach points.

The first round of the vaccine commenced on the 21st of March 2022 to the 4th of April 2022. Second Round will be on the 2nd of May 2022 to 15 May 2022.

The Vaccination blitz program is set to leave no one behind.

Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga dispelled fake news being circulated on social media that government had lifted the mandatory wearing of face masks and PCR tests.

The country has secured enough vaccine doses to try and control future variants or the threats that the near winter season may come with.

As at 21 March 2022, Zimbabwe had 244 685 confirmed cases, including 234 895 recoveries and 5 429 deaths. To date, a total of 4 428 726 people have been vaccinated against Covid -19.
