OBRIEL CHIRINDA scored his 10th goal for Bulawayo Chiefs this season as his side beat Dynamos to complete a memorable league double over the Glamour Boys on Saturday.
Bulawayo Chiefs dreadful 2023- 24 season turned for the better as goals from Obriel Chirinda and skipper Malvin Mkolo gave the visiting side all the much needed three points at Barbourfields Stadium, Bulawayo. Both sides went toe to toe, giving spectators an eventful first half in search for a breakthrough.
Amakhosi Amahle came into the second half a completely different team with Malvin Mkolo finding the back of the net in the 47th minute. DeMbare’s Dominic Mudadi quickly pulled one back. The Ninjas eyeing for victory, piled more pressure in search for the lead and their exploits were duly rewarded in the 51st minute after inform Chiefs striker Obriel Chirinda outpaced the Harare Giants captain Frank Makarati to slot the ball home.
The Glamour Boys tried by all means to put the game back on level terms but their efforts hit a brick wall as the visitors’ defense stood firm. Eventually Amakhosi Amahle triumphed 2-1 over their more illustrious opponents.
The Bulawayo side also grabbed full set of points in the reverse fixture as they outsmarted Dynamos 3-2 at the National Sports Stadium.
“Dynamos is a very good team, a very strong one. One of the most supported team in the country. So it was quite good for us to collect three points. We managed to get those chances and we were very solid in our own defense.” Said Amakhosi Amahle head coach, Johanisi Nhuma.
The result leaves DeMbare on position 4 with 36 points while Bulawayo Chiefs are ranked 8th with 29 points.
