The football family mourns with Simba Bhora Football Club following the death of the team’s midfielder Barnabas Mushunje.
Mushunje died on Tuesday night upon admission at Parirenyatwa Hospital in the capital, after he was involved in a horrific car crash along the Harare-Shamva road where he sustained severe injuries.
Reports emanating from the capital state that Mushunje was a passenger in a car which collided with a tractor. Mushunje had missed the club’s bus from Harare to Shamva after he arrived late in Harare as he was attending the funeral of a relative.
Barnabas Mushunje played top flight football with well resourced side Ngezi Platinum Stars FC, before joining the ambitious Northern Region Soccer League side Simba Bhora prior to that he was playing for the Harare giants Dynamos FC. He joined Simba Bhora earlier on this year during the January transfer window.
Burial arrangements will be advised in due course but according to a family member, Mushunje will be buried at his rural home in Bocha in Manicaland province.
