ZIMBABWE will go head to head against Netherlands in three One Day International cricket encounters at Harare Sports Club later this month.
The Chevrons’ last international assignment was a Test series against the West Indies which was played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo where Zimbabwe lost the two match series 1-0 after drawing the first encounter and suffering an innings and four runs defeat in the second and final match.
The three matches against Netherlands, will take place from March 21st up until March 25th. The series will conclude Zim’s campaign in the inaugural Super League.
The ODI series is part of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League that is serving as the main route for direct qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India later this year.
But both Zimbabwe and Netherlands who occupied the last two spots, have since failed to make it from the tournament are set to fight for their places in an upcoming ten team tournament during winter in Zimbabwe.
The white ball Zimbabwe captain, Craig Ervine reckons their match against the Dutch in Harare this month remains important despite their failure to qualify in the Super League.
“I think this tour is very important to us,” said Craig Ervine.
“This tour is another chance to look at some options ahead of the ICC Men’s World Cup Qualifier in our backyard and what other teams we will be playing against,” added the Skipper.
“It is also another opportunity to keep our momentum going which has brought a lot of support from our fans and which we will carry through the qualifiers,” said Ervine.
