A 34 year old Zimabwe Republic Police Officer has been arraigned before the courts of law to answer for rape charges allegedly happened two years ago.

The accused Farai Mzengeza from 27 Rozva Street in Mabvuku Harare is a serving member of Zimbabwe Republic Police stationed at ZRP Support Unity in Bulawayo.

Allegations against Mzengeza are that he was invited to complainant’s party as a family friend in October 2020 at Mahatshula North, Bulawayo.

On the day in question, Mzengeza is alleged to have followed the complainant to a parking bay outside the premises and grabbed her tightly, forced her to sleep on a snooker table and raped her once.

Mzengeza is said to have threatened the complainant not to say anything before going back into the house.

Later the same night, the complainant was asked by her mother to accompany Mzengeza to the shops to buy more alcoholic beverages.

On their way to Gunya Shops in Mahatshula North, Mzengeza is alleged to have, instead, drove towards Harare Road and parked at a secluded bushy area and rapped the complainant once again.

The matter came to light when the complainant wrote to her School Chaplain leading to Mzengeza’s arrest.

Mzengeza was arrested in March 2021 charged for two counts of rape and appeared before magistrate Joseph Mabeza on the 1st of March 2023. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
