SPENCER BANDA PAYS HOMAGE TO MUNETSI

WARRIORS midfielder Marshall Munetsi’s unravelling form in Europe has been recognized by the largest football statistics website WhoScored.com which has named him in its February team of the month.

With his current form in the French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims, Munetsi finds himself sharing the spotlight with World Cup winner Lionel Messi, PSG stars Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi. Also two of his team mates Junya Ito and Yunis Abdelhamid.

The former Orlando Pirates player has already equaled his last season tally of five goals which he accumulated in 23 appearances. He came back from injury to score his latest goal last weekend against Toulouse at the Auguste Delaune stadium, his side went on to win 3-0.

The Zimbabwean international has been in red-hot-form for his French side with Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion last year showing interest in the 26 year old.

The box-to-box midfielder has became an integral part of Stade Reims squad which has been acknowledged by those back home.

Speaking to Zim GBC News, sports pundit Spencer Banda said it is phenomenal for a midfielder to be consistent in assisting and scoring goals.

“For a player whose primary role is to shield the CB, l think for Marshall to score two goals in a month and still assist in obtaining positive results for his side is phenomenal. He is executing his duties diligently and we can only hope he continues to build on the growing confidence.” Said Banda.

“Off the pitch he has also been doing a lot of positive moves. Attending the Fifa Best Xl awards where he rubbed shoulders with Messi and Mbappe and has been championing the return of Zimbabwe to the international football family. He really has been a shinning beacon,” he added.

Marshall Munetsi in the Best Fifa Football Awards ceremony which was held in Paris, France rubbed shoulders with international football stars. He shared the moment on his Facebook page, he shared photos of himself with Brazilian midfielder Casemiro and Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
