It was great closing match in the third week of the Bulawayo Metropolitan Rugby Football Board (BMRFB) Under-20 League between the Christian Brothers College Hornets and the Western Suburbs Academy on Saturday at Hartsfield Rugby Grounds.
The match lived up to everyone’s expectations on and off the field as the Hornets edged Western Suburbs Academy and won a closely encounter fifteen to fourteen to go on top of the table.
The Christian Brothers College Hornets are now five point clear on top with fifteen points from three matches played so far in the ongoing Bulawayo Rugby League 2023.
The Western Suburbs who were looking for a victory on Saturday against the inform Hornets dropped to the second position of the table with ten points from two wins in the previous matches.
This was a great match as the Western Suburbs Academy were also in form and are looking to solve their problems they have done in their lost to the Hornets and getting back to their winning ways as this was their first defeat since the start of the 2023 season.
The Christian Brothers College Hornets are still undefeated since the beginning of the season two weeks ago and are looking forward to continue with their current form.
In other matches played on the weekend, the Highlanders Rugby proved to be in form as they managed to get a seven to zero victory.
The Bulldogs showed dominance on Saturday as they pulled the day’s greatest victory over the win less Plumtree Buffaloes. The Bulldogs managed to go home with a fifty-three to zero win with was recorded as the biggest win of the week.
The match which followed the Bulldogs against Plumtree Buffaloes was between the Raging Bulls and Old Miltonians match, which did not disappoint as the Raging Bulls put a show and won twenty-two to zero, which was the second highest score of the week.
After the completion of the third round and the top two being Hornets and Western Suburbs Academy, Raging Bulls maintain third position with 10 points from two matches. Bulldogs have moved to fourth place with their first win of the season while Old Miltonians and Plumtree Buffaloes remain win less.
