The Bulawayo-based Republican Party of Zimbabwe that is led by Kwanele Hlabangana has castigated the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission for presenting what looks like a shoddy job when presenting the 2023 delimitation report ahead of this year’s elections.
“Our position as a Party is that ZEC has been careless in the handling of the Delimitation exercise and the outcome of their report is flawed in many areas including evidence of internal conflict among the ZEC Commissioners. As a Party, we believe that institutions like ZEC should try by all means to be professional in their conduct in order for the public to have confidence in the manner they deliver on their mandate,” this was said by party President Kwanele Hlabangana in an interview with Zim GBC News.
The RPZ joins many other political formations including the ruling party in condemning ZEC’s delimitation report.
Meanwhile, the RPZ hope to do better than they did in 2018 in the forthcoming elections. The Party President revealed a 14Point-Plan that touches on issues of concern which include: Constitutionalism, the Economy, Workers and Civil Servants, Youth Leadership and Development, Arts, Sports, Recreation and Culture, Traditional Leadership, Liberation Struggle Heroes and Heroines, ICT and Skills Development, Women and the girl child, Disabled Persons, The Elderly and Liberation Struggle Freedom Fighter, Health, Wellness, and Child Welfare as well as Infrastructure Development.
Hlabangana’s party says it’s already on the ground carrying out door-to-door campaigns.
“Our strategy of engagement is through a direct door-to-door exercise and through our Party’s empowerment programs. We encourage all Zimbabweans to register to vote and actively participate in national affairs,” said Hlabangana.
The Republican Party was formed in October 2017. It has so far contested in every poll that has been held since 2018. According to its President, the R.P.Z is opposed to aristocracy, oligarchy, monarchy, and dictatorship
