LEGENDARY former Highlanders coach Cosmas ‘Tsano’ Zulu has called on Government and other stakeholders to increase the availability of sanitary pads to equal the free condom distribution penetration levels.
Tsano who is now based in Mashonaland West at Ngezi Platinum runs a movement that specialises in the procurement of sanitary pads for school going girls.
“I started this movement in 2013 after being touched by an incident in which a girl in Gwanda had resorted to using discarded cotton wool from an old electric stove during her menstruation cycle,” said Tsano in an interview with Zim GBC News that was conducted in his apartment.
The apartment resembles an exhibition in an art gallery because it is decorated with pictures and artifacts that Tsano has collected in the 55 years he has been involved with football.
“Why are we having condoms placed in almost every public male toilet while no free sanitary pads are placed in women’s toilets,” Zulu quizzed.
Tsano’s organization has over the years distributed free sanitary pads to schools. Among those that have benefited from Cosmas Zulu’s initiative are Joyful Primary School, Zulukandaba Primary School, Matopos Primary School, Mahlothova Primary School, Bulawayo Adventist High School, Chimbombo Primary School.
