Former England and Yorkshire county cricket club, left handed batsman and leg-break bowler, Gary Ballance is rearing to go ahead of his debut match in Zimbabwe colours against the touring Irish side.
“Gary Ballance is thrilled to be a part of the Zimbabwean squad as his teammates and coaching staff are treating him well,” said Darlington Majonga the Media and Communications manager at Zimbabwe Cricket.
“Ballance is an amazing batsman who can score great runs and with the help of Sean Williams, Craig Ervine and Wessly Madhevere, we are very confident that we can deliver the best and win the T20ls and ODIs matches,” said Majonga.
Ballance who will be playing for the Zimbabwe National team for the first time, however he is not new to the local setup. He played for Zimbabwe under 19s during the 2006 under 19s World Cup then aged 16.
The former Peterhouse schoolboy starred in a famous upset for Zimbabwe against England in a two wicket win over a nation that he would later represent. He later represented England.
He made his test match debut in England colours against Australia in 2014. Overally, he has 609 test match caps, and has earned 228 ODIs caps so far.
