The curtain fell on the National Association of Secondary Schools (NASH) 2026 chess games with Bulawayo emerging as the undisputed champion, claiming the title of best province in secondary school chess.

The province’s team “ruled the roast”, scooping three gold, three silver and one bronze medal to top the medal tally.

Last year’s winners, Harare, had to settle for second place this time around, managing three gold, one silver and four bronze medals. Meanwhile, Mashonaland East improved its performance from the previous edition, finishing third and edging past Midlands, which slipped to fourth after being runners-up in 2025.

Manicaland ended the campaign empty‑handed, becoming the only province to walk away without a single medal this year.

The 2027 NASH games will be hosted by Matebeleland South, setting the stage for another intense showdown among Zimbabwe’s secondary school chess talents.
