Former Milton High School Students and the general public in Bulawayo have called on the relevant authorities to look at the State of the infrastructure at the institution.
Located along Leopold Takawira Avenue (formerly called Selborne Avenue) in the Suburbs area, Milton High is a government all-boys school in Bulawayo.
It was founded in 1910 and is named after a colonial administrator called Sir. William Milton.
“This is not how the Milton High School of old looked like.” Said Samuel Chinhara who grew up in the area a stone throw away from the school.
“My brother used to be a boarder there, the school was so prestigious and I wished to learn there, the buildings were exquisite, students were well mannered and the infrastructure was well taken care of.” Added Chinhara.
Another commentator a Mrs Dube said almost all her sons went through Milton High School.
“Out of my six boys four of them learnt at the then top class secondary school. My sons in their lives due to Milton High culture but I doubt if it still exists. We only see ruins and unruly boys who are always engaged in gang fights at the Bulawayo City Hall car park.” Said the seventy year old Mrs. Dube.
Mrs. Dube runs a grocery shop at the nearby Ascot Shopping Centre.
“Milton High School like many other former group A schools (government schools, formerly reserved for white people) is run down because of poor performance of the economy and years of neglect by relevant authorities.
