OUTRAGE AS ZAMBIAN WOMAN DIES AFTER HUSBAND FORCES SEX DAYS AFTER C-SECTION

Zim GBC News | Regional Desk

LUSAKA – A heartbreaking tragedy has sparked widespread outrage across the region after a Zambian woman reportedly died following an alleged sexual assault by her husband, just four days after undergoing a caesarean section.

According to family sources, the woman, whose name has been withheld for privacy, was still in severe pain and recovering from the major surgical procedure when the incident occurred. Medical experts universally advise women who have undergone C-sections to allow adequate time for healing—typically six weeks or more—before engaging in sexual activity.

The victim’s sister, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the woman had pleaded with her husband to exercise patience and allow her body to recover.

“She told him she was still in pain and needed at least two weeks to recover, but he refused,” the grieving sister recounted.

“She explained that even moving was painful, that the wound was still fresh, but he would not listen.”

In a disturbing revelation, the sister further claimed that the husband allegedly threatened to abandon the woman if she did not submit to his demands, leaving her with little choice in a vulnerable state.

The incident has ignited a firestorm of outrage on social media platforms, with activists and concerned citizens condemning the act and calling for justice.

“This is nothing short of gender-based violence with fatal consequences,” commented one activist online.

“Forcing oneself on a woman four days after major abdominal surgery is not just cruelty—it is a death sentence.”

The tragedy has reignited conversations about the importance of respecting medical advice after childbirth and the urgent need to protect women during the vulnerable post-delivery recovery period.

Medical professionals emphasize that the body requires significant time to heal internally after a C-section, and premature sexual activity can lead to severe complications, including infection, hemorrhage, and in extreme cases, death.

Images reportedly taken before the woman’s death have circulated widely on social media, adding to the public outcry and demands for legal action against the husband.

Authorities in Zambia have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident, but human rights organizations are calling for a thorough investigation and prosecution to send a strong message that such violence against women will not be tolerated.
