BULAWAYO – Police in Bulawayo have launched an urgent appeal for information to help locate a 59-year-old man who has been missing for nearly a week.
Andrew Larry Dowie, a resident of Sicklebush Thorngroove, was last seen at his home on the morning of Monday, 9 March 2026. According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Dowie is mentally challenged and his disappearance has caused significant concern for his family.
“He was last seen wearing a grey shirt, a grey sweater, and black shorts with white stripes on the sides,” said Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the Police Press and Public Relations Officer for Bulawayo Province.
“He is tall and coloured in complexion.”
Inspector Msebele confirmed that Dowie’s family has been working with authorities since his disappearance. The family is particularly worried due to his mental health condition, fearing he may be disorientated and unable to find his way home.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen Andrew or knows of his whereabouts to come forward immediately,” Insp. Msebele added.
“Any piece of information, no matter how small it seems, could be crucial in bringing him home safely.”
Authorities are urging members of the public to report any sightings to the ZRP Mzilikazi on 0292 74439, or to visit their nearest police station.
Alternatively, family members can be contacted directly. His younger brother, David Dowie, can be reached on 0714 984 073.
