Controversial prophet Walter Magaya and his wife are facing yet another legal and financial setback, with their prime property in Waterfalls set to go under the hammer following a protracted debt dispute with GetBucks Microfinance Bank.
The property, located at 166 Smuts Road in Prospect, Harare, is scheduled for auction on Friday, 27 February 2026. Graham and Douglas Real Estate has been appointed by the Sheriff of the High Court to conduct the sale, as the debt against Magaya, his wife, and their company, Planet Africa (Private) Limited, has ballooned to over US$500,000.
The sprawling 3.2-hectare stand, complete with a six-bedroom house, lounge, dining room, and staff quarters, represents the latest financial pressure mounting against the prominent religious figure.
This development comes hot on the heels of a separate High Court ruling that ordered Magaya to repay a staggering US$3 million (approximately R54 million) to Israeli businessman Ronny Aharon Musan Levi. In a scathing judgment, Justice Maxwell Takuva dismissed Magaya’s legal arguments and accused him of hypocrisy.
The court found that Magaya had received the funds from Levi in May 2022 under a Memorandum of Agreement for a joint mining venture. The agreement stipulated that Magaya would secure the investment by registering a first-ranking mortgage over his Yadah Hotel Properties within 30 days.
However, according to court records, Magaya failed to register the bond and did not repay any portion of the amount.
In his ruling, Justice Maxwell Takuva delivered a strongly worded rebuke, stating that Magaya’s conduct stood in “stark and troubling contrast” to the scriptures he preaches. The judge awarded costs against the prophet on a higher scale, signaling the court’s disapproval of his handling of the matter.
Despite the legal setbacks, there has been no official response from Magaya or his legal representatives regarding the pending auction or the US$3 million judgment.
