ZRP appeals for information on man seen dragging woman in viral video

NATIONAL – The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched an appeal for information to identify a man captured in a disturbing video circulating on social media, in which he is seen physically assaulting a woman inside a house.

In a statement released this week, police said the footage shows an unknown male adult dragging a woman across the floor by her blouse or T-shirt. The woman is heard calling for help and pleading with the man, referring to him as “Moyo.”

“The ZRP is appealing for information which may lead to the identification and arrest of a man captured in a video circulating on social media,” police said.

Authorities have urged anyone with information to report at any nearest police station.

ZRP warns public over online job scams after Glen View rape

Police have issued a stern warning to job seekers to exercise extreme caution when responding to online employment offers, following a disturbing rape case in Harare.

According to police, a 19-year-old woman was allegedly sexually abused after responding to an online job advertisement.

The incident occurred on February 9, 2026. The suspect allegedly contacted the victim and arranged to meet her at Machipisa Shopping Centre. He then took her to a house in Glen View 7, where the sexual abuse occurred. The victim was only released the following day, on February 10.

“The ZRP urges members of the public to exercise extreme caution when responding to online offers, particularly job opportunities, and to avoid being lured by strangers to secluded places or private vehicles,” police said.

Two arrested after US$10,000 theft in Willowvale

Police in Harare have arrested two suspects in connection with a brazen theft in which US$10,000 was stolen from a parked vehicle.

The incident occurred on February 16, 2026, at Action Close in Willowvale Industries. Police confirmed the arrest of Nicholas Seven (38) and Trymore Chikasha (39).

The suspects, who were travelling in a Toyota Fortuner, allegedly smashed the passenger-side window of the complainant’s vehicle—a Nissan X-Trail—using a metal object. They reportedly stole a satchel containing US$10,000 which was on the passenger seat before speeding off from the scene.

“The complainant pursued the suspects, leading to their arrest after their getaway vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a ditch,” police said.

Gweru man arrested for dagga possession at bus terminus

In a separate incident, police in Gweru arrested a man for unlawful possession of dagga at Kudzanayi Bus Terminus.

Danisa Ncube (37) was apprehended on February 16, 2026, after officers conducted a search and recovered cobs of dagga concealed in two bags. The suspect had just received a parcel from a cross-border bus when officers approached him.

The arrest is part of the ZRP’s ongoing crackdown on drug and substance abuse under the hashtag #notodrugs.
