All the away teams in the English Premier League last Sunday came out victors except the Red Devils Manchester United who where blinded by the new Villa Park wizardry.
Unai Emery finally gave Aston Villa a home win against Manchester United they haven’t tasted in 27 years.
Manchester United came to Villa Park with a little bit of boost with midweek 1:0 win over Spaniards Real Sociedad and the young sensation Alejandro Garnacho started the match hoping to continue where he left off.
Leon Bailey’s 7th minute goal after he parachuted across United’s defence gave the home side an early deserving lead and a Lucas Digne goal just few minutes later switched the lights off for the visiting side. The absence of Bruno Fernandes who was replaced by Donny van de Beek could be felt on the pitch.
The home side under new management showed their inner Lion spirit has awoken to devour the top side and crush their top four hopes heading to the world cup break.
It was a great first half for Bailey who continued to penetrate United’s asleep defence. Though United fought hard in the last 10 minutes before half time to find the life support goal through the help of Garnacho who patched the life system which was dangling lifelessly to have a bit of a breather and the away team fans thought this is a comeback recovery.
But Villa’s determination and speed bossed them around regardless.
In the beginning of the second half, Jacob Ramsey found the back of the net within 10 minutes. Through out the game the Red Devils showed no command of the game and the Brazilian Casemiro failed to have his ‘samba dance’ feet give United a happy ending.
The Red Devils new captain Cristiano Ronaldo was hitting blanks with most of his shots off target. His consistency of scoring goals is diminishing shot by shot.
The two sides will meet again this Thursday for the Carabao Cup.
