Google’s Gemini App Adds “Answer Now” Button for Quick Replies

Google has added an “Answer Now” button to its Gemini app, letting users get faster responses by skipping longer AI processing. The update is part of broader improvements to Gemini’s personal intelligence features.

Available for Gemini Pro and Gemini Flash (formerly called “Thinking”) users, the button appears next to the response indicator. Tapping it brings up a message noting that Gemini will “skip in-depth thinking,” followed shortly by a brief answer. Users on the fastest tier (Gemini Flash) won’t see the option, since answers are already immediate.

“I often need quick facts for my assignments, but the internet isn’t always consistent,” said Sipho Moyo, a university student .

“With ‘Answer Now,’ I will get what I need before the page times out, It’s not just convenient it will actually save my data.”

Google also ensures that once you choose a model, Gemini won’t automatically switch to a faster one, your chosen model handles the response. This keeps output consistent with user expectations.

Alongside this feature, Google has separated usage limits for the Thinking and Pro models, offering more flexibility based on how people use the app.

With the “Answer Now” option, Gemini continues to prioritize both speed and relevance, adapting to users who want quick answers without switching models. As AI tools evolve, updates like this aim to make interactions more efficient and personalized.

For professionals, the update brings practical benefits.

“In my line of work, I sometimes just need a short answer, not a full analysis,” noted Linda Ndlovu, a IT consultant.

“The fact that Gemini won’t switch models on its own is a big plus, I know exactly what kind of response I will get, which makes it easier to trust and use for client queries.”

As more users explore the update, the general sentiment is that smarter, adaptive AI tools can make a noticeable difference especially in environments where every second of connectivity counts.
