Long before the world saw them as a couple, A$AP Rocky’s mother believed Rihanna was the perfect match for her son.
In a recent interview, the rapper shared that during his past relationships, his mother would tell him,
“I know you like this girl that you’re with right now… but I want you with Riri.”
At the time, Rocky saw Rihanna only as a close friend.
“I used to be like, ‘Ma, be cool. That’s just my friend,’” he recalled. Now, he admits, “Mothers know best.”
The two global stars were friends for nearly a decade after meeting in 2012. Their relationship turned romantic in late 2019, and they have since become one of Hollywood’s most admired pairs, known for their effortless style and strong bond.
Rocky has called Rihanna “the love of my life” and has said their timing felt perfect.
“Any time before that, I don’t think I was ready. I don’t think she was either,” he shared.
Today, the couple is focused on their family, raising their three young children together while continuing their successful careers in music and business.
Their story shows that sometimes, the best relationships start with a strong friendship—and a mother’s good intuition.
