The idea of Bodybuilding Competition should not ignore the principles, values and ethos of bodybuilding as Eugen Sandow who is widely regarded as the father of bodybuilding sought to entertain the audience.
That principle is still valid at this day and age.
The Bulawayo Bodybuilding Federal Association (BBFA) will be hosting the Bulawayo Classic Competitions today the 29th of October 2022 at the Bulawayo Theatre.
“Bulawayo classic” is the new name for the competition after it has been run over the years as “Mr and Miss Bulawayo”
“It used to be a competition only for Bulawayo contestants, but this year we opened it to other centers hence the name change”, said Donovan Ashborne, BBFA secretary.
BBFA is affiliated to the National Federation of Zimbabwe Body Building and Fitness (NFZBBF)
When asked for a comment, Richard Chikwe, one of the contestants said,
“This is exactly what I’ve been longing for ever since I started my fitness journey. I have always wanted to Contend for a title in my home turf. As the saying goes, “victory loves preparation”, I have been preparing since the day I heard about the competition. I have been working out early in the mornings and late nights trying to sculpt my body into becoming like those of the Greek gods.”
He went on to say his goal is to be part of the team that celebrates bodybuilding in Bulawayo and he wants to inspire many athletes who are afraid to step on the stage and showcase their worth.
