BULAWAYO – Six men from Tsholotsho identified as Nkosilathi Nkomo, Musa Duma, Alert Tshuma, Obert Nkomo, Benjamin Moyo and Zenzo Ncube appeared before the Tredgold Magistrates’ Court facing murder charges following the death of Somiso Ndlovu in June last year.
According to court’s case, the incident occurred on 13 June 2025, when the now deceased, Somiso Ndlovu allegedly entered a neighbor’s home during the night.
The homeowner, Irene Ndlovu, told the court that she was awoken by what sounded like two voices in her storeroom where she kept building materials.
“I screamed trying to call my neighbours, but it seems they did not hear me,” she said.
Believing there had been a break in, she alerted her two grandchildren and later contacted Benjamin Moyo, who arrived around 2am with Musa Duma.
Benjamin reportedly knocked on the door while Musa stood watch nearby. Shortly after, Obert Nkomo and Alert Tshuma arrived at the scene.
Obert, using a torch, he entered the room and found Somiso alone. He reportedly admitted he had been talking to himself. Despite the clarification, Obert allegedly dragged him outside and stabbed him.
“Zenzo Ncube, who arrived later, is accused of striking Somiso with a knobkerrie”.
The men moved Somiso to the gate, where Nkosilathi and Zenzo offered to escort him home. That was the last time he was seen alive. All six accused remain in custody with pending further court proceedings.
As this case unfolds, it shows that while community safety is important, there is need for involving law enforcement rather than resorting to violence.
