Award-winning singer Mawhoo was unable to perform at the RustyRocks Metro FM New Year’s Eve event at Sun City after her team was reportedly attacked on the way to the venue.

The musician, whose real name is Ntobeko Ngema, shared a video on Instagram showing her touring van badly damaged.

She said her team was attacked by a group she referred to as “amabhunu/boer” while traveling to their last performance of the year.

In an official statement, Mawhoo’s team confirmed the incident was a severe racial attack that caused major damage to their bus and delayed their arrival.

Despite efforts to reach Sun City on time, she could not make it to the stage.

The statement apologized to fans and event organizers for the disappointment.

It also confirmed that the details of the alleged attackers have been identified and that legal action will be taken.
