BULAWAYO— The City of Bulawayo is grappling with significant water supply interruptions across key areas, including Mzilikazi, Suburbs, Kumalo, and several others, as indicated in a recent advisory from the Office of the Town Clerk.

The statement highlighted the challenges stemming from increased demand against the backdrop of infrastructural delays.

Residents have voiced their frustrations as they navigate daily life without reliable access to water.

“It’s been days without water in our home. We are forced to rely on boreholes and river water. This is unacceptable,”
expressed a resident from the Mzilikazi area, who requested anonymity.

The advisory cited specific regions most affected by the supply issues:

  • Mahatshula
  • Suburbs
  • Kumalo
  • Selbourne Park
  • Fortune Gate
  • Brene Vista
  • Gwadlube
  • Njube
  • Lobengula West
  • Pumula South and Nkulumane Sedgemore Area

The interruption, attributed to infrastructure constraints, has left many residents concerned about the long-term implications for health and sanitation.

“Water is essential for hygiene, especially during the festive seasons where households will be hosting relatives and friends. I fear for our children and the elderly,”
remarked one of the affected residents.

They assured residents that efforts are underway to restore services, although the timeline remains uncertain.

Public reaction remains mixed. While some residents express understanding of the city’s challenges, others are demanding immediate action.

Another resident, echoed their sentiments saying , “These problems have been ongoing for too long. We need more transparency and faster results from the council.”

The city has issued updates encouraging residents to report any additional issues to the relevant authorities, emphasizing community cooperation during this challenging period.

As Bulawayo continues to navigate these pressing water supply issues, the call for swift action and transparency resonates strongly among its citizens.

The city appears committed to addressing the problem; however, the effectiveness of these efforts will ultimately determine the community’s trust and resilience moving forward.
