‎The Zimbabwe senior men’s national football team, the Warriors, have safely arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ahead of their much-anticipated international friendly match against Algeria.

‎The friendly encounter forms part of Zimbabwe’s ongoing preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

‎The travelling squad comprises a blend of locally-based and South African-based players, reflecting Head Coach Marian Mario Marinica’s strategy to integrate both domestic and foreign talent.

‎Jonah Fabisch, who plies his trade in Germany, has already joined camp, while the rest of the European-based players are expected to arrive later today.

‎The team is set to hold its first training session this afternoon at 1600hrs (KSA time) as preparations intensify for the Algeria clash.

‎Speaking on arrival, Coach Marinica emphasized the importance of the fixture in fine-tuning the team ahead of continental competition.

‎ “This friendly is an important test in our journey towards AFCON 2025,” said Marinica.

‎As the Warriors settle into their Saudi Arabia camp, all eyes are now on how they will perform against a strong Algerian side.

‎The friendly offers a valuable opportunity for Coach Marinica to assess his squad’s cohesion, test tactical variations, and strengthen team chemistry ahead of the continental showpiece.

‎With AFCON 2025 fast approaching, Zimbabwe’s preparations are clearly shifting into high gear, and the nation will be watching with growing anticipation.
