Civil Servants to Receive 2025 Bonuses Starting This Week

Zim GBC News | Harare Correspondent

Public sector workers are set to receive their 2025 annual bonuses beginning Friday, with the government implementing a phased payment approach to ensure smooth distribution across the civil service.

According to the payment schedule, the first installment of 50 percent will be paid together with November salaries, while the remainder will be disbursed in December.

In a significant additional benefit, government workers will also receive a once-off Special Presidential Bonus of US$150, courtesy of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, with half the amount being paid this month and the balance in December.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Simon Masanga, confirmed the arrangements, stating that “the Government has already implemented the agreed changes following deliberations under the National Joint Negotiating Council.”

The split payment arrangement is designed to ease pressure on the banking system, minimize long queues, and ensure efficient cash flow management across the public sector.

As has become tradition, payments will commence with members of the security services, followed by employees in the health and education sectors, before cascading to the rest of the civil service. Traditional leaders and their messengers will also receive annual bonuses, maintaining a practice introduced in the past two years.

The announcement has generated excitement among public service workers, coming at an opportune time as many families prepare for the festive season.

The positive development is further bolstered by the continued stability of the local currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG).
