BULAWAYO- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are investigating an armed robbery that took place on 25 October 2025 at a home in Hillcrest, where three men made off with more than US$11,000 and other valuables.

According to the police, the 35-year-old female complainant was in her house with her six children at around 8:20PM when three unidentified male suspects stormed into the house.

“The suspects were armed with a pistol and an okapi knife. They reportedly demanded cellphones from the children in the sitting room before proceeding to the main bedroom where the woman was sleeping”.

Two of the suspects allegedly pointed a pistol at her neck, tied her hands, and demanded cash.

“They took US$200 from under a laptop, US$140 and ZAR4,500 from a drawer, and US$60 from her purse”, said the Deputy Press and Public Relations Officer, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu.

The suspects then demanded safe keys and managed to steal a further US$11,380. One of the robbers also took keys of an Audi vehicle before the gang fled the scene, jumping over the durawall and driving away.

As this case unfolds, the public is advised to avoid keeping large sums of money at home and instead use banking facilities.

“We encourage members of the public to avoid keeping large sums of money at homes rather bank them”, said Assistant Inspector Ndlovu.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact Hillside Police Station on 244422 or Bulawayo Operations on 2883930/273547.
