HARARE – A Harare man is fighting for his life at Sally Mugabe Hospital after his wife allegedly scalded him with boiling cooking oil while he slept, in a violent domestic dispute over suspected infidelity.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the couple’s home in the city. Luckmore Nandoro, a 29-year-old security guard, had just returned from a night shift when his wife, Eunice Natalie Tande, 25, confronted him with accusations of cheating.
According to police reports, the argument escalated before Nandoro retreated to the bedroom to sleep. While he slept, Tande allegedly boiled cooking oil and poured it over his head, shoulders, and chest, causing extensive burns before fleeing the scene.
A neighbour responded to the incident and rushed Nandoro to hospital, where he remains in critical condition with severe injuries affecting large areas of his upper body.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrest, stating:
“We have arrested a woman for attempted murder. Her husband suffered severe burns and is currently hospitalised.”
Police reported that Tande later surrendered herself to authorities and is now in custody as investigations continue.
